The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry was formed following an Amiri Decree issued in 1970 by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. It aim has been to take part in organizing economic life and support trade, industrial and professional sectors at all levels in cooperation with other local departments in the interest of the country.
The Chamber has been keen to include nationals and expatriates as well as companies and establishments involved in these activities. It has felt the need to catch up with the economic developments of the UAE.
Established in January 1997, the DTCM has two main areas of responsibility. The first of these includes all the functions of the former Dubai Commerce and Tourism Promotion Board (DCTPB), which had been in existence since 1989 and concentrated on the international promotion of Dubai’s commerce and tourism interests. The DTCM’s second main area of responsibility is as the principal authority for the planning, supervision and development of the tourism sector in the emirate.
Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) was established in 1996, in accordance with the Emiri decree no. 5 for 1996, with a main objective to promote the commerce and tourism activities within the emirate of Sharjah.
