Ras al Khaimah Women’s College was opened in 1993. Since that time, the college has grown to include state of the art facilities which match its innovative learning model. In classrooms equipped with internet access, smart boards and data projectors, students are encouraged to develop excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills. The college emphasizes the importance of individual effort as well as the ability to work in a team. Students are expected to become independent, innovative learners. Teachers and students enjoy full access to a wide range of online information resources in the Learning Resource Centre as well as the latest educational software in the newly created Learning Centre. American University of Sharjah (AUS) was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, who envisioned the university as a leading educational institution in the Gulf region. Emirates Aviation College - Aerospace and Academic Studies – was established in 1991 by the Department of Civil Aviation, initially to provide aviation-related training to private students and corporate organisations.

The college has since expanded and diversified and now offers an extensive range of educational opportunities designed to give students a firm foundation for success in their career pathways.In September 2001, the college was merged with Emirates to form the "Academic Wing" of the Emirates Group.
