American University of Sharjah (AUS) was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, who envisioned the university as a leading educational institution in the Gulf region. American University of Sharjah is an independent, not-for-profit coeducational institution. Although consciously based on upon American institutions of higher education, AUS is also expected to be thoroughly grounded in Arab culture and to be part of a larger process of the revitalization of intellectual life in the Middle East. AUS is emerging as a leading comprehensive coeducational university in the Gulf, serving students from the region and around the world.

The University of Sharjah was established as a non-profit institution for higher education in October 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme President of the University to be the first university in the emirate of Sharjah. In less than 10 years, the University has achieved academic accreditation for most of its programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.

Our School is licensed and approved by the U.A.E Ministry of Education and has proudly received recommendations for a high standard of Education offered to students. Our classrooms are fully-equipped with quality Montessori learning apparatus. Computer classes are offered from Grade 1 and our School follows the Ministry of Education Curriculum in the teaching of Arabic and Islamic studies.
