Al Khawarizmi International College was founded in 1985 with aim of providing:Quality Diploma Programs, at higher education level, in Information Technology (IT), providing competent graduate, IT technicians; currently in national shortage.Quality Short Courses in Information Technology for 'End-Users' and IT Professionals.

The Al Khawarizmi Diploma in Computer Studies was the first diploma programme to be offered in the UAE in 1986. It was first offered in association with the Institute of Data Processing Management (IDPM) - London. In 1991 we started to offer the programme in association with and under full supervision from Liverpool John Moores University - UK. Liverpool JM University is a world-class British state university that is recognized worldwide.

The past year has been one of continued high achievement and great progress. In 2006-2007, our twenty-fifth academic year, our roll was 2430 students, the highest in the school’s history, and our students’ results in the May/June 2006 British IGCSE, AS and A-level examinations and in the 2005-2006 American PSAT, TOEFL, and SAT tests were excellent. In addition, our graduates were admitted to very competitive courses at top-ranked universities.
Al-Worood was approved for continuing accreditation for the 2006-07 school year by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) in the USA. To maintain accreditation, our school demonstrated that it continued to meet quality standards and was engaged in an improvement process that enhances student performance. Accreditation demonstrates to our community that we are providing a quality and enriching learning environment for our students.

Abu Dhabi University, the nation’s leading private education establishment, signed a Memorandum of ‎Understanding with Munich Technical University and the University of Bonn from Germany to jointly ‎establish a College for Medicine and Health Sciences to be based at ADU campus. Once launched the ‎college will receive students from all around the world and will offer a multitude of medical and health ‎sciences courses to all enrolled students
