Troy University, ITS Sharjah Campus was initially established to cater to nearly one hundred and fifty students who were abandoned by the shifting of the Arab Maritime Transport Academy to Egypt in 1990. Its facilities were taken over with the blessing of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Quasimi and his brother Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohammed Al Quasimi, the present chancellor. Troy University, ITS Sharjah Campus later established the American model transfer program at the undergraduate level in September 1990.
